The Palestine Academy, organised by UMDE’s Palestine Education Desk as part of the 2026–2027 academic year, continues with lectures and seminars aimed at exploring the historical background of the Palestinian cause and examining developments in the Middle East from different perspectives.

This week’s programme featured a lecture by Prof. Dr. Khalid Uwaysi entitled “Modern Palestinian History” and a workshop led by journalist Furkan Erten entitled “Intelligence, Security and the Middle East: Data Privacy and Cybersecurity.”

Prof. Dr. Khalid Uwaysi examined modern Palestinian history, highlighting the importance of understanding its historical development in order to better understand the Palestinian issue today. Journalist Furkan Erten explored intelligence and security in the context of the Middle East, focusing on data privacy and cybersecurity. The sessions offered participants an opportunity to examine the Palestinian issue from a historical perspective while also exploring the relationship between regional developments, security and the digital world.

The Palestine Academy aims to deepen participants’ historical understanding of the Palestinian issue, encourage a more comprehensive assessment of current developments, and strengthen their knowledge and analytical skills across different fields. The programme will continue in the coming weeks with new lectures and seminars led by experts in their respective fields.
